RESEARCH
Vilhelmini Kalabratsidou is a dancer, researcher and lecturer at the Department of Product and Systems Engineering at the University of the Aegean in Syros, where she teaches Interactive Design. Her work focuses on the design of interactive interfaces that auditory and visually augment information coming from the human body, such as cardiac activity. She explores the use of these interfaces in the Performing Arts, with a particular emphasis on dance, with the aim of deepening the audience’s sensory perception and building a stronger connection with the performer. She obtained her PhD at the intersection of Computer Science and Cognitive Computing from Rutgers University in the USA. As a trained dancer, she graduated from the Dance Department of the Athens Conservatory. She was a dancer at the Albano Ballet Company for 2 years and has received distinctions and awards at international ballet competitions.
